da gbg bet: The rise of Thomas Muller within the ever competitive realm of European football was one very few initially saw coming.
da dobrowin: Despite first appearing as a somewhat light-weight character whose tendency to drift in and out of big matches, the 25-year-old Bundesliga favourite has since taken the world by storm with his impressive performances at club level and even better displays for Germany on the international scene.
In deservingly achieving household name status in the modern era, Thomas Muller has successfully registered several assists and over 20 goals for Bayern this season – with such goal-scoring prowess giving him every right to target former teammate Miroslav Klose’s record breaking World Cup goal tally when the next tournament approaches.
He is therefore perhaps one of the most surprisingly valued stars of the game these days – and as a reunion with ex-manager, Louis van Gaal, at Manchester United has been touted in the news of late for the feisty German international – could Thomas Muller ultimately represent the perfect signing for the Red Devils going into the new campaign?
The signs certainly look promising for the Old Trafford faithful…
The low sock sporting, often shin-pad-less no. 25 may not derive from the same Galacticos reputation that has been aimed for at Manchester United in the last year, with the signings of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao. Muller may not bring with him a vast bag of tricks or array of skills that most look for in top class talent in today’s game, and he certainly wouldn’t be considered a world beater when it comes to physicality in the Premier League any time soon.

Yet because the German star works so well as a team player rather than a mere glorified individual – Thomas Muller could simply be just the player the Red Devils require ahead of the 2015/16 season. The notions of cooperation and effective team chemistry just hasn’t been present for Louis van Gaal this season, no matter how much money was spent throughout the summer.
Like Miroslav Klose, Muller knows exactly where to be, and exactly when to be there. His movement in and around the box is to a level most managers out there would die to have in their team, his link-up play with his teammates has proved more than reliable throughout the years – and as his many career goals have proved since he first broke onto the scene – the plucky German forward certainly has to be considered a true goal-scorer, and a pretty dangerous one at that.
Whilst very few would have called it before the season begun, Louis van Gaal’s side have completely floundered in front of goal this term, with the likes of Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney and van Persie all lacking that world class touch that their lofty reputations would elude to. For one reason or another, Manchester United have been disappointingly flat throughout 2014/15 and they just haven’t looked like a team that are all working from the same page.
Thomas Muller would subsequently offer the Old Trafford faithful something truly valuable if the reported deal linking him with the Red Devils turns out to be more than pure transfer speculation however. In utilizing his famed Raumdeuter (space-finder) abilities – as highlighted back in his home country – the plucky Bayern man could act as the go-between for Manchester United, effectively linking the likes of Ander Herrera and Juan Mata with the team’s recognised centre-forwards.
He also has a wealth of both domestic and international experience under his belt that would be hard to rival in the current United set up, and with Louis van Gaal proving the coach to initially hand Thomas Muller his first real run in the starting XI at the Allianz Arena, the working relationship between the Dutchman and his players would certainly seem less alien with the no. 25 on board at Old Trafford.
The reasons why Manchester United should go for a player such as the one in question, over just another big name looking for just another big pay day, are therefore numerous. The Red Devils simply have to get serious this summer if they want 2015/16 to be a success – and in recent World Cup winner – Louis van Gaal can certainly do that.
As Bayern Munich reportedly want close to £40 million for his services however, it seems the Manchester United boardroom staff will have to continue getting the cheque-book out this summer if they truly want to make Thomas Muller their man.
