da esoccer bet: Having returned to the starting line-up for Manchester United’s 2-1 loss away to Valencia in the Champions League after being named on the substitutes bench in the last two Premier League games, Paul Pogba failed to take his chance in disastrous fashion.
The Frenchman missed an absolute sitter from inside the six-yard box when it seemed easier to score, although the offside flag spared his blushes somewhat – however, the incident summed up a player devoid of any confidence at the minute.
At 25 years of age, and with a World Cup winners’ medal under his belt, you would think that Pogba would be far more accomplished, professional and adaptable than he has been of late, but he simply looks incompatible within this Jose Mourinho side – if the phrase ‘square peg in a round hole’ could be epitomised better in football, I’m yet to see it.
In what is not necessarily a huge game in terms of league position for the Red Devils, but is sure to be a feisty showdown nonetheless, United travel to Liverpool on Sunday with their pride hanging by a thread.
Mourinho’s men will be up against it from the off, no doubt about it, but whether or not Pogba plays will have a huge impact on United’s performance – the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss previously described the midfielder as a ‘virus’, as reported by the Telegraph.
However, we want to know if you think Pogba should start at Anfield this weekend after his Champions League horror show in Valencia. Have your say down below, and keep an eye out for the published results…
