da bet vitoria: Burnley have won their last five Championship games and the Clarets look all set to make a quick return to the top flight thanks to the goals of Andre Gray.
da cassino: Sitting top of the table is nice, you’d imagine, but the pressure from Hull and Middlesbrough is intense and both sides have currently played a game less than Burnley.
The Lancashire club are currently the top goalscorers in the league and the riches of a monumental Premier League deal are within 11 games reach. The new TV money makes this season all the more lucrative for every Championship side and, naturally, Burnley are not different.
The Clarets do not have the same resources as many of their rivals for promotion, but can be assumed to have plenty of parachute money to delve in to.
These could be the most valuable games in the history of the club and wins in these five fixtures could make it a rich future…
Facing the Rs
Burnley and QPR have taken quite different paths since their respective relegations from the Premier League and the Clarets have certainly taken the hit of relegation better.
QPR might be suffering from indifferent form, but the quality is still present in their squad to cause real problems.
This is the sort of game Burnley must win if they want to get automatic promotion.
Date with the chasing pack
Brighton, after the same number of games as Burnley, sit just four points behind the Lancashire side. Their trip to the south coast on April 2nd could be one of the defining fixtures in the Clarets’ season.
Victory could see Brighton killed off in the race for automatic promotion, whilst defeat would see Burnley leave the door ajar for Hull and Boro.
Champions elect
Middlesbrough are many people’s favourites to win the Championship this season and Aitor Karanka’s side will be pushing all the way.
Any fixture between first and second is massive, but only three games remain after Burnley and Middlesbrough’s clash in mid-April and it is likely to have a significant impact on either side’s promotion hopes.
Derby day
Burnley versus Preston is sure to have a bit of a spice to it, even before you add the promotion battle into the mix.
In a league that changes so dramatically, the six points Preston find themselves outside of the play-off places could be made up within a few games and this match might see two sides go head to head who are a lot closer than we would expect.
Welsh visitors
Cardiff are level on points with Sheffield Wednesday, who currently occupy the last play-off place, and will be disappointed if they don’t finish in the top six this season.
Off the field chaos has subsided of late and the Welsh side must fancy their chances of making a late charge into the play-offs and would surely love the opportunity for a showdown at Wembley to decide their fate.
