da jogodeouro: Speaking on talkSPORT, former Manchester United man Mark Bosnich has pinpointed exactly why Sunday’s clash against Liverpool may not be as straight-forward as it seems.
What did he say?
The Red Devils have endured a miserable start to the current campaign, picking up a measly nine points from their opening eight Premier League games, leaving them just two points above the relegation zone.
Having lost against Newcastle last time out, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side take on arch-rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday – a team that have made a flawless opening to the season with eight league wins out of eight.

Despite recent form suggesting Jurgen Klopp’s men will walk away with all three points, Bosnich has offered some words of encouragement to United as to why they may be able to dig out a much-needed result.
He said: “It’s always a massive game against Liverpool and hearing that two of their players are out is not great, but Manchester United when they’ve got their backs to the wall can be very, very dangerous.

“No one is giving them a chance in hell, but they’ve got a very good record against Liverpool at Old Trafford. Liverpool are going great guns, but they’re away from home and it’s after the international break, which can throw the chips in the air, so you never know.”
Words of comfort
Make no mistake about it, Klopp’s side will be bouncing into Saturday’s game with all the momentum in the world. The Reds have made a dominant start to the league campaign, and will fancy their chances of inflicting more misery on their historic rivals.
However, this is the one fixture in the calendar that essentially guarantees added motivation for United. Liverpool at home is a must-not-lose clash, and arguably, in the context of how the season is currently going, has become a must-win for Solskjaer’s side. Not only would a victory kick-start things for themselves, it would also end the Merseyside club’s 100% start to the Premier League. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
The script is there for the Red Devils to lay down their marker of the season. As Bosnich remarks, they have their backs against the wall, and it’s time for them to come out swinging.
