da bet sport: Arsenal have confirmed that they will send crocked midfielder Jack Wilshere to Sweden next week for a minor operation on his knee.
The England international did not play one single minute of the 2011-12 season due to injury, and as such was not fit in time to be considered for Euro 2012 inclusion.
Despite the setbacks that Wilshere has received over the last 12 months, the north London club are confident that their home-grown hero will be ready to play from the start of next term.
“England international Jack Wilshere is continuing to recover very well from the injury to his right ankle which ruled him out of action for the 2011/12 season,” an official club statement reads.
“However, his ongoing rehabilitation has seen a long-standing slight issue with his patella tendon in his left knee flare up.
“As a result, Jack will travel to Sweden for a minor procedure on his left knee in the next few days. This procedure is not expected to significantly affect Jack’s comeback ahead of next season.
“On returning to England, Jack will resume his rehabilitation with the Arsenal medical team over the summer,” it concluded.
