da apostebet: As Burnley prepare to face Manchester United this weekend, most neutrals are only backing one team.
da gbg bet: Indeed, the Red Devils are seven places higher than the Clarets in the Premier League table and outspent the Lancashire outfit by almost tenfold during the summer transfer window.
Perhaps most importantly, United boast home advantage, with Saturday’s game hosted in the safety of Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho has lost just once at the Theatre of Dreams across all competitions since being appointed United gaffer in the summer, whilst Burnley have lost all four of their outings on the road, scoring just one goal in the process.
But we at Football FanCast have caught a whiff of the winds of change and despite Burnley’s tribulations away from Turf Moor, we’re tipping them to cause an upset in Saturday’s 3pm kickoff.
Are we crazy, are we foolish? Perhaps. But there is some logic to our prophecy…
United lacking creativity up top
Make no mistake about it, Manchester United are struggling in the final third. Zlatan Ibrahimovich has netted just one goal in his last nine appearances, Wayne Rooney can’t make the starting XI, Marcus Rashford’s struggling to influence from wide positions and Paul Pogba’s yet to provide the attacking flair from midfield we all expected during the summer.
In fact, United have scored just once in their last three domestic fixtures, so they could really struggle against a Burnley side with arguably the best defensive organisation in the Premier League. All the signs suggest United will find it extremely difficult to break through – if Burnley capitalise on one opportunity at the other end, they have a fantastic chance of claiming a 1-0 win.
Momentum after Everton win
Perhaps the most important factor ahead of Saturday’s game is the momentum that will accompany Burnley, after a fantastic performance against Everton last weekend. The Toffees have been one of the better sides in the Premier League this season but the Clatets produced a committed, organised and ambitious display that saw them claim a surprise win at Turf Moor.
We usually focus on Burnley’s defensive qualities but they produced going forward as well, with Scott Arfield and Johan Berg Gudmundsson pulling the strings in midfield, and that bodes well for the visit to Old Trafford.
Burnley form actually better than United’s
It may seem unlikely considering the vast differences between Manchester United and Burnley, but it’s actually the latter club who are in better Premier League form ahead of Saturday’s clash.
Indeed, whilst the Red Devils have picked up just five points from their last six games, the Clarets have picked up seven – including three points apiece over Watford and Everton. There has been a distinct variation in the quality of opponent, with United facing Liverpool and Chelsea away from home, but nonetheless, Sean Dyche’s boys have a real positive to take into the Old Trafford clash.
