da pinup bet: West Ham United have not received any bids from Spanish side Eibar for Reece Oxford, despite other reports stating otherwise, according to Claret & Hugh.
What’s the word?
da bet7: Oxford had so much promise surrounding him when he made his senior debut at the tender age of 16.
However, the defender has failed to push on and claim a regular spot in the first team having had loan spells at Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach.
It has been widely reported that the 19-year-old will be sent on loan for the remainder of the season, but according to Claret & Hugh there is no truth in rumours that Eibar want to snap him up.
The website states that the only loan offer that West Ham have received is from League One side Bolton Wanderers.
What should West Ham do?
Oxford is only a teenager and therefore has room to improve and find his best form, but it looks unlikely that it will happen at West Ham.
His fellow Under-23s teammate Declan Rice has made the step up, but Oxford has been left behind.
Offloading the player, who can also play as a holding midfielder, on a permanent basis would have been the better option for the East London club, but they will have to settle for a loan arrangement.
With Friday’s deadline fast-approaching and what looks like very few options, the Hammers should agree a deal with Bolton.
It is best for Oxford and the club if he is picking up minutes elsewhere.
